Are you clear about your purpose?
The reason for being here now in this incarnation,
in this human body, having your human experience at this time?
What I have come to know through all I have studied and read is that we are
meant to love what we do. How magical is that, our purpose in life is to do what we love to do.
The clue is what makes your heart sing?
So if you aren’t earning a living doing what you love then it maybe its time to get creative and find a way to work towards the industry that you love.
When you are living from your heart, doing what you love you will find all the energy, inspiration and motivation and support that you require to be doing exactly what you are meant to be doing. You simply have to get clear about what you want to do and then take inspired action. One step at a time, celebrate each step and give yourself the space to create your version of a purposeful life.
If you have no clue as to what your purpose is here are few questions you can ask yourself to point you in the right direction.
- When you were young and people asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, what did you say? Are you doing that or some form of it? Does it still resonate with you now?
- If money wasn’t an issue what would you be doing?
- Who is someone that inspires you, what is it that inspires you about them, what do they do for a living?
- Is there something that you do as a hobby that you could do all day long regardless of the money?
- What qualities do you have that people mention when they refer to you.
- When you day dream what do you dream about doing?
Here’s a part of my story that may help you to tease out your life’s purpose.
When I was asked as a youngster what I wanted to be when I grew up I would answer “a cooking teacher”. I was a pretty good student at school up until high school when my life took a dramatic turn and the devastating effect that had me not enjoying school anymore. I learn through experience and the dry way information was spoken at me at school did not engage me. I was looking for the exit point as soon as I could and fortunately I was guided to attend college and learn how to cook. I enjoy cooking, mostly because it makes others feel loved and nourished. I continued on my journey of becoming a cooking teacher. My path meander along various routes all to do with food in some form until eventually I bought my first restaurant at 23. This was a fun and exciting time in my life that only changed when I became a mother. The kitchen of a restaurant was no place to be with my baby and soon decided to move on. After that I developed a commercial cake business that I did from home around my babies. During this time I was offered a job teaching commercial cookery which of course I jumped at, at the time I had 2 small children was pregnant with my 3rd baby and still running my cake business. It didn’t take me long to realise I wasn’t all that good as a cooking teacher and was somewhat deflated by this knowledge. Fast forward about 10 or so years and I realised all I needed to do, to fulfil my purpose was to drop the cooking part and be a teacher. This is when I became a life coach. I am passionate about learning and personal growth and sharing what I learn with others. This of course is an ever evolving journey however I feel that I do live each day with a clear vision of living my purposeful life.
So as you can see the clue from my younger self was the teacher.
You deserve to be happy and live purposefully. Enjoy the journey.
